Description for CSTP 6: Developing as a Professional Educator.

Element 6.1 - Reflecting on teacher practice in support of student learning; Element 6.2 - Establishing professional goals and engaging in continuous and purposeful professional growth and development; Element 6.3 - Collaborating with colleagues and the broader professional community to support teacher and student learning; Element 6.4 - Working with families to support student learning; Element 6.5 - Engaging local communities in support of the instructional program; Element 6.6 - Managing professional responsibilities to maintain motivation and commitment to all students; Element 6.7 - Demonstrating professional responsibility, integrity, and ethical conduct.

Element 6.1 Evidence

Develop awareness of potential bias that might influence teaching or affect student learning; Assess growth as a teacher over time; Discuss the student growth with the student, general education teacher, and parents.

Element 6.2 Evidence

I set and modify personal and student goals (5-10 year goals); attend professional development workshops; research and use best teaching practices; serve on the PBIS team; and develop weekly Mango movies to showcase teacher and student interests/growth.

Element 6.3 Evidence

I interact with service providers and PLC meetings; I attend staff, grade level, and department meetings; I collaborate with gen ed teachers on the effectiveness of lessons upon IEP goals; I remain receptive to feedback; I support the school-wide expectations by incorporating visual fliers or verbally reference them when interacting with the students.
