Description for CA TPE 2: Creating and Maintaining Effective Environments for Student Learning

Teacher candidates should promote the student's social-emotional development and individual responsibility by using interventions in the format of positive reinforcements, restorative justice, and conflict resolution practices. Teachers should create learning inclusive environments which are safe and encourage positive interactions amongst students. Furthermore, the teacher candidate should know how to access resources for all students who have experienced trauma, foster care, and medical conditions. Teachers shall maintain high expectations of all learners and appropriate support and clear expectations of positive classroom behavior.

Description for Educational Specialist TPE 2: Creating and Maintaining Effective Environments for Student Learning

Ed Specialist teacher candidates will develop accomodations and modifications that are individiualized to the specific needs to students with disabilities and enable them to have equal access to the curriculum. Ed specialist Teachers are to design learning environments in multiple modalities (i.e., traditional, blended, and virtual) that promote positive and productive student learning, encourage positive interactions among other students, celebrate diversity, multiple perspectives, and be culturally responsive. The candidate will address the limits of sensory, mobility, and behavioral needs. Teachers are to incorporate assistive technology and optimize learning opportunities for all students. Collaboration amongst families will be ongoing and integral throughout to identify if a student's behavior is a manifestation of their disability and develop an appropriate intervention plan that addresses the behavior. The teacher candidate will demonstrate the ability to support the movement, mobility, sensory needs required for the student to succeed- and apply and implement supports according to their unique needs.
