Teacher candidates will consistently reflect upon their teaching practice, recognize their values, and be aware of implicit and explicit biases to improve student learning. Also, show acceptance, care, support, and fairness toward all students and families. Learning goals will be constructed with understanding and sensitivities towards many student/family dynamics and situations and engage in communication with colleagues to support students and their families. Teacher candidates will show and implement professional roles and etiquette, integrity, and model ethical conduct, and critically analyze the history of California’s public education and how it can affect and influence school governance and finance.

Ed Specialist teacher candidates are to coordinate and collaborate with paraprofessionals and other adults in the classroom. Teachers carefully identify and implement conflict resolution strategies in IEP meetings and professional collaboration capacities. Ed Specialist candidates are knowledgeable of federal, state, and local policies related to special education. Knowledge of diminishment of previous abilities may significantly affect student(s) and their family member(s).
